The All Souls Trilogy. I'm shivering from excitement just thinking about it. I just finished the second book in this somewhat new trilogy by Deborah E. Harkness. The trilogy is about vampires, daemons and witches who live in the 21st century. The main character is a witch named Dianna who is a historian interested in alchemy at Yale and doesn't know anything about her powers, just that she is a witch. When she goes to the library, she finds a strange book with words moving on the page, alchemical pictures and it feels as if it is alive, as if it is finally opening to her touch. Then, she meets Matthew, a vampire dead set on retrieving that book. Matthew asks Dianna why and he tells her it is the Book of Life, a book which holds all the secrets to vampires, daemons and witches, and it has never been able to open before to anyone. He tells her that she is a special witch. And there their journey begins to find the book, Dianna's lost powers and the answer as to why there is a connection between them. Dianna and Matthew's story spans over three books, however, there are only two published (the third is on its way). The first book is called " A Discovery of Witches", and the second is called "Shadow of the Night". These are amazing books and are definitely worth a try.
